1st pre show for the year

Last Saturday we took Bob to his first show of the year in Paris, AR. We had a lot of fun. Bob was so excited all week for this show and this is what we were getting ready for all week. We had to clip their hair and give them all new hair cuts, which I tell Jon I have retired that is his job now he should of never learned how to do it because he is much better than I ever was, but I still love helping Bob blow drying them and working with their hair and training it to go the right way.

One of his best friends Wyatt was going and showing steers. There was about 3 families for Northwest Arkansas that went. This was Bob's best friend and his little brother, they are brothers one is same age as Bob and the youngest is about 9. This was Showmanship and their pour mother had to listen to the older one all the way home because the youngest beat Bob and his friend in showmanship. Which we thought was great maybe next time they will have their mind on their business when they go in. (Showmanship is who shows the best has the best technique, knows the questions the judge asks. The judge asked what are you going to do when you get home. He said a lot of kids said they were going to go home and work their animals Bob said he was going home to set and watch tv and go to bed since we got up at 4:30 that morning and were on the road by 6:00.) At least he was honest.

This is Miss Mabel, she is a mess and so spoilt. He placed 2nd with her and Grand came from his class. We were pleased.

This is Angie she is Bob's Registered Angus he placed 2nd with her. Bob has several shows in the next few weeks plus we have to work cattle so I will show you the King of the Ring Show soon hopefully.

A Captain Story

Here is one of our Captain stories for you he is our entertainment and keeps us laughing everyday. This is the most recent story.
It was about 9:45 last night and I could not get Captain to go to sleep so I decided I would just go to bed and put him in our bed and hopefully he would be asleep by 10:30 or when Jon went to bed and he could take him to his own bed. I laid him on our bed while I went to brush my teeth and I heard him say he was shampooing his hair but dumb me did not pay a whole lot of attention. When I got in there he had the lotion (which is my fault I did not put it back in the bathroom when I got done putting lotion on his leg earlier I just put it on the night stand) all over his head all over the sheets it was bad and his hair was covered with lotion. He was so proud of himself and he had that little smile he has that does get him out of lots of trouble. Jon nor I could not hardly keep a straight face it was so funny. Just so you know lotion is hard to get out and his hair was so greasy. I wish I had took some pictures but at the moment I just wanted the mess cleaned up.

How we spent our Valentines Day

For our Valentines day we decided to have a family dinner at Mom's so I called Mom Friday night and informed her we were all coming wasn't that nice of me. Anyway Lisa and Jim Bob (her oldest that is what Brian calls her) are into making cakes and decorating them so they did dessert and a vegetable and I did the meat and of course we begged Granny to make her homemade rolls she is famous for. She has been making them since Grandps and Dad use to have hired hand on the place before they had Lisa and I then the hired hands went away and we became them. But Granny is known for her rolls in the communtiy with all the people who use to haul hay for us. This year Lisa is starting up a Shooting Sports team a Sr and a Jr team and well Jon's brothers kids are even involved. Bob was not going to do it but Lisa had a girl back out last minute so Bob gets to do it now. On Valentines the kids begged to go shoot skeet so we bundled up the best we could and went and played. We all got part of the action but this really is not my thing I would rather take pictures. Its okay I can do it but I really don't get a kick out of this but I do love to watch the kids do it.

Uncle Brian had to help Dutches get in on some of the action.

He also got to help Paigers get in on the action too.

Here is Jim Bob.

Uncle Brian is working off his dinner for Bob to play too.

New Cast

Yesterday we took Captain and he got a cast put on he will be in it for 3 weeks at least. He can get around with this one we are hoping he will be able to walk with it some when he gets use to it. Captain was really good while the put it on he even picked the color.
Once the kids got home from school they had to sign his cast.

Today we got out every farm toy we could find and barn and we have been playing farm.

Captain is so funny he hollers at me and says "mom Come here" so I come then he tells me there are too many bulls in his pen and they keep knocking down the fence.

Cade

This past Sunday we were celebrating Jon's, Terri's (Jon's brothers wife), and Jayme's birthday at our house. The kids were playing on the trampoline and we aren't sure exactly what happened but one of the kids did a flip and somehow Chief or I should say Captain (seems like Papa has come up with a new name for Chief) hit his leg on the bar. We took him to the ER in Siloam which was busy we got there at 3:30 and did not see the Dr till about 6:00 or a little after. Anyway the Dr did not see anything but Monday Dr Stock called and he had looked at the X Rays and he said there was a small fracture on his tibula. So I took him back to ER Monday and they put him in a split and we go Wed. to see Dr Allred and hopefully they will put him in something he can walk in. Captain in is to active to stay down for long, but he has been taking it all in as you can see.

Nicodemus Church sent a get well balloon and Marla and Wanda or I guess I should say other Granny sent all kinds of gum and Candy. Captain always runs to other Granny at church and every Sunday he gets gum. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Razorback Baseball Signing

This past Saturday we went to the Razorback baseball signing at the mall and one of Bob's friends and his brother and mom met us there. This is the kids with Ribbey.

This is one of Bob's friends they show cattle and are in 4-H together.

They even got autographs from the cheer leaders Bob and Wyatt wanted their picture made with them imagine that.

Bob's new bull calf

This is Mandy's first calf. Mandy is Bob's first registered heifer he ever bought she is a Shorthorn/Angus. At County she placed Grand of her breed in 2008 and won her class at the AR/OK State Fair. She was Reserve of her breed at the 2009 Benton Co fair. We were a little disappointed that she did not have a heifer calf so Bob or Dutches would of been able to show her.
I did stay home with the kids today and we went sledding and we built a snowman. I think I am going to have to go back to work to recoup.
